Get ready to head up north for the 41st annual Lewis Drug Pro/Am Tier 1 International Racquetball Tour’s (IRT) tournament. From January 17-20 at the Sioux Falls Family YMCA in downtown Sioux Falls, South Dakota, catch the Tour’s elite athletes compete for over $28 thousand dollars in total prize money. Don’t miss the chance to be apart of history, as the Lewis Drug Pro/Am is the longest running pro racquetball tournament in the United States.
#1 ranked player on Tour, Alex Landa, from Juarez, Mexico won the Lewis Drug Pro/Am last year in an exciting final against the #4 ranked player on Tour, Daniel De La Rosa, residing in Gilbert, Arizona. That Tier 1 victory was Landa’s first on the IRT as he followed it up with another one in Cincinnati last season. Landa and De La Rosa will be competing in this year’s event and what a rematch it would be if those two found their way on the court together.
“King” Kane Waselenchuk, residing in Austin, Texas was sidelined in last years Lewis Drug event, due to a knee injury that ended up requiring surgery later on in last year’s season. Waselenchuk is fresh off his California Open championship, and the racquetball community can bet the “King” will be looking to make up for time lost.
All of the Tour’s top 8 will be there, with the exception of #6 Sebastian Franco, from Cali, Colombia who will be on his honeymoon. You can expect 18 of the Tour’s top 20 ranked players to be competing over the weekend, all participants looking to take a piece of over $28 thousand dollars in prize money. 24 players have registered for IRT Doubles action, including the 2018 US Open Doubles Champions De La Rosa and Alvaro Beltran, from Tijuana, Mexico.
If you’re in the area and want to watch the action in person, head to the Sioux Falls Family YMCA located at: 220 S Minnesota Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57104. All matches throughout the weekend are FREE to the general public. You can also catch all the matches online and watch with the IRT’s millions of viewers from all around the world on the Tour’s IRT Network, Facebook or YouTube channels.
