Washington, Mo. November 15, 2018- CONCERNING ALL IRT PLAYERS!!! Don’t get too stuffed this holiday weekend, because the 2018 Pelham Memorial Tournament of Champions is the week after Thanksgiving!
From November 29-December 2, join the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) in downtown Portland, Oregon at the Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC) for the Tour’s third Tier 1 tournament of the year. Over 200 racquetball athletes will be competing over the weekend in Portland, including all of the Tour’s top-eight professionals.
Portland’s very own hometown hero, Charlie Pratt, took home the championship at last year’s Tournament of Champions after defeating Mario Mercado, from Cali, Valle Colombia by final scores of 11-4, 11-1, 12-10. This was Pratt’s first Tier 1 championship victory of his professional racquetball career, and looks forward to repeating history next week.
The Pelham Memorial Tournament of Champions is dedicated to John Pelahm, a U.S. Army Special Forces Specialist who was killed in action on February 12, 2014. The last post from John’s Facebook account while he was overseas stated, “I can’t wait to play racquetball again.” Last year was the first year the Portland tournament was dedicated to John, and all proceeds from the tournament are split between four charities: Live Like John Foundation, Military Racquetball Foundation, The Green Beret Foundation, and the Oregon Youth Challenge Program.
IRT men’s pro singles will be on display over the weekend, along with a high school division. With over 300 juniors involved in the Oregon JR Racquetball program, the high school programs are leading the way for youth racquetball in Oregon.
If you’re interested in watching the world’s greatest racquetball athletes in action for FREE, head down to the Multnomah Athletic Club located at: 1849 SW Salmon St, Portland, OR 97205. If you can’t make it to the MAC that weekend, watch all the action online for free with the Tour’s thousands of fans on the IRT’s multiple platforms: IRT Network, Facebook, YouTube and Twitch Tv.
