          Team Gearbox: New Addition- Polo Gutierrez.

         

          Gearbox Racquetball welcomes Polo Gutierrez # 15 ranked player on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT).

            Gearbox racquetball is proud to announce the signing of Polo Gutierrez from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.  Polo began playing professional racquetball in 2001 and has had success on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) with wins over Mitch Williams, Chris Crowther, Jason Mannino, Jason Thoerner and Shane Vanderson.

 

Polo made his mark on the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) at the 2005 Choice Hotels U.S. Open when he earned his way into the quarterfinals of the tournament.  Along the way, upsetting some of the tour’s top players, namely Jason Thoerner and Mike Guidry. 

 

Internationally, Polo has played for many years on the Mexican National Team and has been crowned the World Champion in 2002 for winning the Men’s World Doubles Championship in San Juan, Puerto Rico. 

 

Polo continues his stellar performances as is evidenced by his achievements at this season’s 2007 Motorola World Championships presented by Verizon Wireless, where he defeated #7 ranked Chris Crowther and #1 Jack Huczek before losing to #2 Rocky Carson in the semi-finals.  Polo made his presence further felt by making the round of 16 at the Choice Hotels US Open in Memphis, Tennessee.

 

Polo Gutierrez, stated, “I am very excited to be part of the Gearbox family and to use the best racquet on the market”.  This youngster is no stranger to upsets and is focused on a Grand Slam win at the 2008 Motorola Pro-National Championships in Chicago on April 23, 2008.
