The 2008 Milwaukee Open

Milwaukee Wisconsin – The IRT returned to the great city of Milwaukee January 25-27 for the 2008 Milwuakee Open. The event was one of the largest events in the state and drew some of the top players on the IRT. The event was held at the Wisonsin Athletic Club- West Allis and is the premier racquetball club amongst the Wisconsin Athletic Clubs. In March of 2000, WAC was recognized officially by IHRSA as the #1 Racquetball Club in the nation. The WAC has hosted every major racquetball tournament at one time or another since 1976 and has received numerous national awards for their program and league system. The facility has eight racquetball courts and is led by racquetball and event director Trish Beatty. Trish and her staff did a great job attaining sponsors and organizing this year’s event.

The pro draw had twenty three players and attracted top ten ranked pros Rocky Carson, Mitch Williams, Shane Vanderson and Ben Croft. CPRT veteran Woody Clouse also made the trip out after hosting a clinic at the WAC and won the 35+ division. The event title would go to Mitch Williams who defeated Ben Croft in four games in the final. Mitch would advance to the final by taking out Shane Vanderson in three very tough games and Ben Croft defeated Rocky Carson in five.

This was a tier two IRT satellite event and provided the Milwuakee fans some great IRT action all weekend.
