The 2017 St. Louis IRT Pro Racquetball Winter Rollout, presented by Pro Kennex, finished this past weekend with another championship victory for the greatest racquetball player of all time, Kane Waselenchuk.
Waselenchuk, residing in Austin, Texas, defeated Samuel Murray, from Baie-Comeau, Quebec in the quarter-finals by scores of 11-3, 11-1, 11-2. The #4 ranked player in the world, Daniel De La Rosa, from Tempe, Arizona forfeited his chance into the finals due to a back injury, which left the open road for Waselenchuk to advance to the finals.
The #2 ranked player in the world, Rocky Carson, met Waselenchuk in the finals where he was defeated by the king of racquetball by scores of 11-1, 11-3, 11-4. Along with a near perfect performance from Waselenchuk over the weekend, he also selflessly donated some on-court time to several junior players.
In the IRT Men’s Futures Doubles, Jake Bredenbeck from Minneapolis, Minnesota and his partner, David “Bobby” Horn, from Stockton, Canada took home the championship. Bredenbeck and Horn defeated the team of Felipe Camacho, from Pueblo, Colorado and his partner Samuel Murray in three games by scores of 12-15, 15-8, 11-8.
The Tour’s next stop will be in Portland, Oregon for the 2017 Portland Tournament of Champions.
