Washington, MO. January 8, 2018– The International Racquetball Tour (IRT) finished its first tournament of 2018 this past weekend in Canoga Park, California. #3 ranked player in the world, Daniel De La Rosa, from Gilbert, Arizona, took home the championship at the Los Angeles Open Presented by Coast to Coast. De La Rosa defeated the currently ranked #1 player in the world, Rocky Carson, from Ladera Ranch, California by scores of 15-5, 15-7 to advance to the finals. #2 ranked player in the world, Kane Waselenchuk, residing in Austin, Texas, suffered an injury to his knee in his semi-final match against #6 ranked player in the world, Mario Mercado, from Cali, Colombia. Waselenchuk’s knee injury kept him from competing in the finals, giving De La Rosa his third Tier 1 championship on Tour.
In IRT Pro Doubles, Alejandro Landa, from El Paso, Texas, and his teammate Samuel Murray, from Baie-Comeau, Quabec finished as champions. Landa and Murray defeated Jose Diaz, from Stockton, California, and his teammate Jake Bredenbeck, from Marine, Minnesota in the finals by scores of 15-14, 14-15, 11-9.
Finally in the Men’s Pro Paddleball Doubles, Chris Crowther, from Carlsbad, California and Emmett Coe, from San Diego, California defeated Michael Myers and Tim Herman, from Menifee, California. The Tour will be heading to Sioux Falls, South Dakota next for the 2018 Lewis Drug Pro/Am Tier 1 Tournament.
