Stockton ProAm presented by Ektelon

2012StocktonProAm_150What did it take for a former top pro, national, world and Pan American champion to dust off his racquet and dig out directions to the local club? “A Tier 1 tournament,” joked Tournament Director John Ellis, referring to Adam Karp, IRT VP of Event Development who competed on the pro tour with Ellis. “For Adam, me, and some of the others, we’re coming back to what we enjoyed before even as we’re working to pull it off again.”

The exclusive “Club” of Tier 1 Champions

CliffSwainENats2011byJen_150The racquetball community was buzzing about the Tier 1 victories of Ben Croft and Jose Rojas. Just how exclusive is the “Club” of Tier 1 winners? According to the Todd Boss IRT Historical Data Archive, it is a very exclusive club. We dug deeply into the files, noting who’s in and with how many wins plus a bit about what the numbers missed.

Combating Nagging Arm Issues

rbwstylized logo1-3-12_150If you play racquetball then you most likely play or have played racquetball with some form of arm pain. Problems as basic as soreness, to injuries as serious as torn rotators, are unfortunate parts of the game we love so much. Illness and how it Affects Performance

franheadshot_150Rocky Carson gets sinus infections every month or two. Kane Waselenchuk had vertigo and played with a back injury. Paola Longoria and Jason Mannino each have had a very bad case of the flu. No one is exempt from unfortunate timing in getting sick. The key is to understand what happens to your body, what you can do to cope, and how you might possibly perform at your best.

St. Louis Party with the Pros: Results!

trophy_150Waselenchuk defeated Carson 1, 8, 5 to take the championship. For the first time since Kane returned from his injury, Rocky and Kane once again traveled their usual fateful path to meet in the finals. And once again it seemed like the result was predetermined to be the same. Kane was warming up for the finals about one hour and fifteen minutes before the match even started. It showed from the start. All of Kane’s serves had seemingly impossible amounts of pop and velocity to them. Rocky didn’t seem ready to handle them as Kane earned several points of aces early.
