Washington, MO. January 21, 2018- The International Racquetball Tour (IRT) wrapped up the 40th annual Lewis Drug Pro/Am Tournament this weekend in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with new faces crowned champions. The men’s pro singles division resulted in the #7 ranked player on Tour, Alejandro Landa, residing in El Paso, Texas, winning his first IRT championship with a 15-6, 7-15, 11-10 victory over the #3 ranked player on Tour, Daniel De La Rosa, residing in Gilbert, Arizona. Landa posted an upset over the #2 ranked player on Tour, Rocky Carson, from Landera Ranch, California in the semifinals before meeting, and defeating De La Rosa in the finals.
In the men’s doubles division, the #8 seeded team of Javier Mar and his teammate Rodrigo Montoya, both from Chihuahua, Chile defeated the #2 seeded team of Jake Bredenbeck, from Marine, Minnesota and Jose Diaz, from Stockton, California by scores of 15-13, 15-12. Bredenbeck and Diaz played in a three-game match against the #6 seeded team of David “Bobbie” Horn and Mauro Rojas, both from Stockton, California before meeting Mar and Montoya in the finals. The Tour will be heading to Chicago, Illinois next in mid-March for the 2018 33rd Annual Shamrock Shootout.
